Scarlet River Lily - Waterside Plant - Plant
The Scarlet River Lily flowers (Schizostylis Occinea 'Major') start to flower when most other plants are settling down for the winter. These plants can be planted at the edge of the pond in normal garden soil. They do not mind getting wet in heavy rain or as the pond is topped up. Combined with boulders, these plants form an attractive transition between ponds and garden.
Scarlet River Lily is a unique plant that grows best when planted in moist soil; for example, along the edge of a pond. Prepare your garden soil by mixing in some compost and garden manure and plant the root balls at the appropriate depth in the hole. The top of the root balls should be just slightly below ground level. Fill the hole with soil and press firmly. Give them plenty of water immediately after planting. They thrive best in a spot in complete sunshine.

This plant particularly looks gorgeous when planted in large groups. The red flowers work well together with Hostas and the Sea Knotgrass planted in moist soil. If you don't have a pond, you can also plant the lily in a flower pot with moist soil, but don't let the soil dry out.
The marsh gladiolus originates from South Africa and is also known as Kaffir lily. It is an evergreen plant that slightly resembles the famous sword liy.
This marsh plant is an easy grower and will grow into a large clump. After several years, if the clump becomes too large, you can divide it into smaller pieces and replant. Schiaostylis coccinea 'Major' is slightly sensitive to frost. During severe frost, protect them with a layer of fallen leaves or straw.
