Hazelnut - Shrub - Shrub
The plant is supplied directly from the ground. Plant the shrub as soon as possible in the garden. Soak the Hazelnut for at least an hour in a bucket of lukewarm water prior to planting. Choose a spot where the hazel will have plenty of space, in permeable soil, sandy is best, but clay suffices. Prepare a wide hole and loosen the soil with a fork. Place the roots of the hazel at the right depth – the top part of the roots should be planted at least 10 cm deep. Refill the hole with soil and press firmly down. Water immediately. Corylus avellana ‘Rode Zellernoot’ thrives well in any soil that holds water. Improve poor garden soil with compost. Choose a sunny spot for the hazel, but partial shade is also OK.

Plant 2 m apart if planting as a hedge.The Corylus avellana ‘Rode Zellernoot’ will not immediately start flowering. The shrub will only bloom once it has reached a reasonable size.
This hazelnut grows well in normal sandy to clay soil. The best spot for this shrub is in full sun. Prune only when absolutely necessary. This shrub reaches about 4 m tall after 10 years.
